About NirvanaLand Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

My mission is to provide quality and affordable massage & bodywork to all. I also wish to promote healthy living especially to those in working class neighborhoods. The healing arts are a necessity. Everyone no matter what their background or income level should have access to quality massage therapy, reiki, and other holistic health modalities.  As a certified practitioner I believe that social entrepreneurship combined with the healing arts can change not only our community but the world at large. Massage therapy is often seen as a luxury, something you get once and a while, or something that is meant for people with extra income.  While it can be that, it is also one of the most natural and effective ways to combat stress, fatigue, muscle aches and pains and a lot more.   Various forms of bodywork are great in combination with other forms of holistic and/or allopathic medicine, allowing you to heal quicker from your ailments.  Though you’ll typically feel great after one session, years of repetitive strain on your body are normally remedied after receiving multiple sessions.  One of the benefits of a sliding pay scale is that it offers people a chance to get better quicker given that they can afford to come back regularly.

Vanessa Hazzard-Tillman, CMT, Owner

My interest in the healing arts stems from my lifestyle as a vegetarian and a student of herbal studies.  I graduated from the 960 hour Advanced Massage Therapy Program at the Sanford Brown Institute in Trevose, PA in 2005.  There I was trained in Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy and other forms of massage.  I received my level one reiki training in January 2005 with Hannelore Goodwin, owner of the Circle of Miracles School in New Britain, PA and my second level training from Yvonne Devastey, RM/T.
In 2008, I began training in the art of Thai Yoga Massage with Kevin Starbard, LMT.  I furthered my training in Thai massage in 2010 with Ana do Rosario Figueiredo, a student Kira Balaskas and the late Asokananda.  In 2009, I co-founded the Philadelphia Bodywork Collective. The PBC is a group of certified holistic practitioners that offer their services in a community setting at Hawthorne Yoga and Reiki.

As owner of NirvanaLand Essentials, natural artisan bodycare products I hand-craft salves, balms, herbal pillows, scrubs, and herb-infused oils to uplift the mind and spirit.   I am currently a student in the Art and Science of Herbalism course created by Rosemary Gladstar.
My love of nature and bodywork is apparent in my life and work.  I look forward to making it accessible and affordable to all!
